Something that made me giggle inside!

I don't know whether this is a local saying or not but while I was delivering leaflets yesterday morning I passed a woman walking her dog and we both said good morning to each other. I then asked her if she had the time on her to which she replied

"It were twenty five past eleven."

I thanked her and walked off and smiling to myself as I realising how odd this common saying was. It's a saying we accept as normal around here. She had meant that was the time when she had left her house - but how long ago that was, I had no idea and I had to presume that she hadn't been out very long!

Language is a funny thing!

(LOL! when I arrived home a few mins later it was actually 11.40am so she'd been out about 15 mins!)
