Today we head into the 80's
The St Winnifreds School Choir record was hard to find - I think all the Grandmas had thrown them in the rubbish bin after Christmas! I finally found it about 4 years ago.
I have never met or even seen Phil Oakey around Sheffield in all these years, although the girls used to hang out in the same club as me called 'the Limit' in the early 80's and Martin Ware had a record shop where I used to buy al ot of records from him . About a year ago I was standing outside a bank in the city centre while Steve went inside to sort out his money. All of a sudden Phil Oakey walked towards me and greeted me with a big 'Hi' hugged me and kissed me on the cheek like he'd known me for years! He then said
'OMG I waven't seen you for years, how've you been keeping?
I realised it was probably a case of mistaken identity (although it would be nice to think that he had recognised me!) but I answered him in the same way - as though I'd known him for years.
'Fine thanks. You?'
"Yeah doing really well."
"OMG how long has it been?"
*Blows* "God must be 20/25 years! How long is it since The Limit?"
"yeah about 23!"
"Doesn't time pass! Well it's lovely seeing you again"
"Yeah you too"
To which I got another hug and off he dissappeared down the road!
Steve came out of the bank and I said "you'll never guess what's just happened!"
To this day I have no idea whether I was who he thought I was or not!
And Renee and Renato a song that can get right on your nerves but it's a song that once I hear it I can't stop singing it all day!!!!
Here are the next three songs;
Renee and Renato - Save Your Love
The Human League - Don't You Want Me
St Winnifred's School Choir - There's No-one Quite Like Grandma
